I went over to Melpomene's house today. Her friends Johnny and.. I think his name is Shiago, anyway, they were already there. They all built this cool thing called a 'treehouse'.. I guess the name is kind of self-explanatory, although it's not very much like a house, even though it is in a tree. Maybe a very small, ugly house. But it's very neat for a place to hang around in.

Johnny and Shiago. These guys are both very headstrong.. I suppose most incoming firsties are, but these two are exceptional. Difficult to control, I think would be the best way to put it. I feel sorry for their parents. And maybe not way too bright, either.. well, I'm not sure about Shiago, since he's foreign. But still, I can tell that they both have some positive qualities.

Of course I felt a bit out of place, being the oldest. And besides, I think those three are pretty good friends already. Hm.. well, hopefully we can all become good friends eventually.

Hello, journal.

Summer vacation is going pretty well, considering how boring it can usually be. I'm not exactly sure where we're going for our family trip this year, though father mentioned something about it possibly being Ireland again. I hope so, most of the mainland can be.. well, there's not much in the way of countryside there. Unless you want to go all the way to eastern Europe, and it's a bit weird over there.

I've met a few new people since the last time I wrote. First, I want to write about one of my Housemates: Alfie Scrounge. I don't know exactly what to think of him, yet. He's older than I am, and very haughty, but I have a feeling that he might have good reason for the way he acts. I've heard some weird things about him, too, though I think most of the rumors that go around in the school are rubbish. Anyway, I'm going to keep observing him to see what I can learn.

Speaking of which, I ran into him a while back while I was in Diagon Alley. There was a table full of Hufflepuff kids in there, and I met a few of them. They weren't getting along with Scrounge - I tried to do a little damage control. It's good to have everyone you can on your side; eventually, one of them might come in handy, in the right situation, no matter how simple they might seem. People can surprise you sometimes.

Oh, and I should mention Melpomene. Jeez, what a name. I'm from a pureblooded family and none of our names are that ridiculous. But, despite the silly name (I just call her Mel, it's much easier), she's very nice. She reminds me a little bit of Ashwin, although she's got better manners and doesn't seem like quite as much of a loose cannon. Ashwin and her met because Melpomene got to come to the manor yesterday - we all had a lot of fun swimming and stuff, though Bodner found me out and made a scene about it. Stupid house elf.

Hello, Journal.

It's the beginning of summer, and my parents just got me this thing as soon as I arrived home from Hogwarts. Maybe they got it with the intention of spying on me to make sure I'm not completely crazy or something. At any rate, I could really care less, so I might as well use it.
